Zurich Switzerland

From Kiental we took the bus and train back to spend our last night in Switzerland discovering Zurich. I usually prefer more remote, rural areas over cities, but I loved the feel of Zurich – the beautiful historic buildings against modern conveniences and architecture; the cleanliness, neatness and precision; interesting, eclectic, fashion conscious people with dogs just as interesting and stylish; families, friends, and lovers enjoying the warm spring afternoon and evening around Lake Zurich.

Just about any direction you looked in Zurich, there was a clock in sight, all keeping precise time, something the Swiss are very proud of.

Stylish, interesting people with dogs as eclectic as their owners.

Even their modes of transportation fit their personal style & flair for style.

Public transportation (buses, trains, boats and trams) in Switzerland is so practical, quick, and easy to use that many who live in the cities have no need for a car.

The Swiss are driven, hard working, and sometimes appear very somber. However, most all were extremely friendly and willing to help as we made our way through Zurich.

We didn’t actually go to the circus, but I couldn’t say no when this cute guy insisted on a picture.

People were everywhere around the lake enjoying the warm sunny day. There was a group of kids that were particularly intriguing. They were jumping from the side of the bridge into the cold lake below. Adults were helping them out of the water in kayaks, but I’m not sure I could have been as brave as they were taking the plunge.

The architecture in the old town area where we spent most of our time was amazing.

One afternoon and evening were really not enough time to enjoy Zurich, but we had to leave early the next morning for Dublin. Anyway, as much as we loved the town, staying here long would definitely put a strain on the budget. Still, we will look forward to another visit to Switzerland someday ~ maybe next spring?

I'm Cathy Fitzgerald, founder of Cathy Fitz Coaching. I work with studio owners across dance, yoga, pilates, martial arts, photography, and creative businesses who are exceptional at what they teach and ready to build something solid underneath it. I also coach women navigating major life transitions who want a real plan and someone genuinely in their corner.

My background includes corporate management, building a dance studio from scratch and growing it to over 900 students, running a photography business across two states, yoga teacher training, and helping launch a yoga studio in Traverse City. I finished my college degree in my 50s and became a certified coach because helping people find their way forward is, quite simply, what I do best.

Every chapter of my life came with me into the next one. That's exactly how I work with clients too.

When I'm not coaching, I'm usually spending time with my husband Bill, taking a yoga class, hanging out with family and friends, or exploring and photographing the beauty of northern Michigan.
