The 4 Stages of a Studio Owner

Which one are you in?

Find out which stage you are in right now, and exactly what it takes to reach the next one.

This is not really a quiz about what you do. It is a quiz about who you have become.

You started as a dancer, and back then it was about you. Your body, your training, the way the music moved through you. Then you became a teacher, and everything turned outward. It was their progress, their confidence, their faces when they finally got the step.

And then you did the bravest thing. You opened your own studio. Overnight you were wearing every hat there is. Teacher, yes, but also the scheduler, the bookkeeper, the marketer, the one answering emails at 11pm, the one cleaning the mirrors before class, the one with a wrench behind the toilet because it is leaking again and there is no one else to call.

The studio runs because you run it. All of it. Every day. This shows you where you are on the climb, and the way up.

What we look at

The four pillars

Your Mindset

Who you are being in the business, and how you decide. Owner or lead teacher? Heart or strategy?

Your Money

Whether your prices, your pay, and your numbers are set up so the studio supports your life.

Your Systems

Whether the studio could run a great day without you in the building.

Your Team

Whether you have people who can carry the work and lead alongside you.

A personal note

From Cathy

I built a dance studio from nothing into a place with more than 900 students and a team of 20. Then I sold it, as a business that could run without me.

So I know exactly what it feels like to be the one holding all of it. The leaky toilet, the late-night worry, the families who feel like your own. I also know the way out, because I walked it myself.

What you are about to read is not generic business advice. It is what I would tell you if we were sitting across from each other at my kitchen table. Read it honestly. This is your starting line, not your ceiling. You are closer than you think.
